I have an annoying "mywebsearch" toolbar I don't need but no idea how it got there or how to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

you've either been somewhere nasty or downloaded something nasty...
read up on browser hijacks, malware and spyware

Start---->control panel----> Add/Remove programs.

It's a bit more involved than that. It's a form of a hijack, mixed with spyware/adware/malware kind of thing.
