Hi all,
To make this short, I'm going to be talking to a director tonight about a job in Yangsan. It is supposedly 30 mins from Busan. Here's what's concerning me:
Is this place in the sticks? Recruiter said there is no subway. That scares me. Anyone know the size of this place? Is there anything going on in the town other than teaching, eating and sleeping? Any expats there? Etc.
So the job is at a new school, opened in Jan. I would be the only foreign teacher. Director and native teacher speak English. 2br 15 p. atp. 6 block hrs teaching adults and kids. i would only take it if I can get at least 10 vacation days and at least 2.0 (as reads 1.9).
Any input appreciated.

This is what i know about yangsan
* It is probably about 30 minutes by bus to Busan(where In Busan though - probably just to the subway, another 30 minutes to get in proper)
*A typical Korean town, not much there, i would be going to Busan every weekend.
* Not to far into the sticks...but it is rural Korea.
*I'm sure there would be a very regular bus service to busan, maybe every 15-20 minutes or so but if you wanted to have a big night you would have to pull an all-nighter as the taxi would be at least 30 000 won. |

I think Yangsan is a little closer to Busan than that. I would think that it's only 10-15 mins from Nopodong terminal. However, like the previous poster said, it will take a little bit of time to get into the main areas of Busan. However, I don't think it's that different from living in Hadan or Dadaepo (minus the beach) |

i worked in yangsan and i'm going back there...if you end up working there. let's get in touch.
anyways, it's not that far out of busan.
to PNU party district, about 35mins with the walk.
to seomyeon maybe 45 minutes.
it's about 200,000people (considered small).
It has a pretty good market downtown if you like fresh vegies..
there is a train station a fair bit (but a single busride...) outta town.
It is a typical korean city. one good thing is that it's not too hard to get a decent hike in; in fact, we plan on doing an overnight behind our house... |
