Hi folks,
I need some help.
My alien immigration card was lost, along with my wallet. I don't speak much Korean at all, and I may not have any help from native speakers on this expedition.

How do I apply for a replacement? I got the first one from an office in Suwon. Any ideas about how to find the office and what to bring?

You'll need your passport for sure. Not sure you'll need your degree, but with all of the re-checks going on, bring it. They might ask to see it again.

You might need to go with your boss. I don't know. Maybe not.

Best just to go there and ask at the window. I'm sorry I don't have the directions to the Suwon one.

Print and fill out this form, bring your passport with you and 10,000 won. They can do it in a day now, I think.

I doubt they'd want to see your degree- they're just issuing a new card, not a new visa, but it might be wise to have your employers phone number, because they might want to double check that you're really working there.

There's really been a rash of lost wallets lately- this is the third I've heard about this month!

You're a peach! Thanks so much for the form.
Now all I need is to figure out how to get there on my own. I know how to take the 6000 from Yongin, and maybe if I knew the name of the building, I could ask a taxi driver to take me?

Maps and contact info for all immigration offices in Korea.

Not sure how up to date the site is, so give them a call first.

Well, my co-teacher had a look at the map, and said that the location given for the Suwon office isn't the right place, and gave me some other stuff to bring along. I'm posting it here for the other poor suckers who lost their wallets:

The following might turn out to be helpful--
-a "job certificate" processed through the admin office at my elementary school
-a photocopy of my previous alien ID card

I'm having trouble finding much information online, so I really appreciate the help over in this corner. Do any of you know which Saturdays, if any, the immigration office is open?
Thanks again!

It will also help if you have a copy of a police report showing that you lost it. Go to your nearest police station, with a Korean friend for translation purposes, and make sure you report your loss before going to immigration. It will save a lot of hassles.

that's a great idea! I do have one of those reports.
I should also add that I'm going to bring some extra photos of myself, for making up a new card.

After hours on the phone and searching the Internet, in English and in Korea, someone finally discovered that the Suwon Immigration office is open on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Just thought I'd share this hard-won info.
