|
|
I guess I accidentally left all 5 notarized copies of my diploma at home. I am scheduled to sign a contract on Thursday, but do not want to hand over my original diploma. Anyone know of a place I can go to in Seoul to get a notarized copy? A bank? I heard it costs 30,000 Won, anyone know if this is true? Im staying in Songpa-gu, so the closer to that area the better. Thanks |

when I was out in Gangwon do I went to the immigration office in Donghae and they made me a certified copy for free. Just make sure you talk to the guy in charge of the office...he's the one with the authority. |

wow, can't believe you forgot one of the most important documents you need to get a job here. well, we all make mistakes.
grotto, i didn't know you could get your diploma notarized within korea. i thought that it had to be done outside the country, like visas. not only that, but it must be notarized by the specific consulate that covers your alma mater's region. for example, i had to send mine from california to the korean consulate in chicago to get it notarized. california had no authority since my school was in the midwest.
if you can get it done here, the best bet in seoul would probably be the immigration office in omokgyo. |

yah i couldnt believe it either....i could swear i brought it with me. i thought i made sure to bring my diploma, notarized copies and transcripts with me on my carry on piece, so as to not take any chances of losing it. i went through all my luggage today looking for it. if it can be done here in Seoul then thats great, but still bothers me i paid $4 for each copy at the consulate in seattle for something i forgot to bring..grrr |

How does the notarised copying of an original degree actually work? can it be done in a day or an hour?
is it possible to just get it done from your own country's embassy or do you have to get it done from the korean embassy in the country of your birth?
i'm somewhat confused about the whole procedure since there are so many varying opinions on the matter. |

when i had mine done in seattle, all i had to bring was the diploma, passport and official transcript. 1 minute later they photocopy the diploma and put a stamp on it. i got charged $4/copy, and like i said, forgot to bring them with me.
i went to immigration yesterday which was a total waste of time. I spoke to 5 people, none of which could help me. I told them i did not want to give my original diploma over to process the visa, but they said they had to have it and a copy was not good enough. i got so frustrated with getting the run-around that i left without getting anything accomplished...such a waste of time |

Custom X I might also be in the same position as you. I've got my original with me but no, noterarized copies I'm sure that if you show it at your consulate they can vouch for it if the immigration office gives you a hard time.
Anyways let me know how you make out. |

You want to go to World Notary in the same block as the Kyobo building for good service in English. |
