First lady Kwon Yang-suk underwent eyelid surgery to stop her eyelashes from poking her eyes early last month when President Roh Moo-hyun had a similar operation, Chong Wa Dae officials said Monday.
As a result of the surgery conducted on Feb. 4, Kwon has double-edged eyelids now, like her husband, they said. "The presidential couple had the operations at Chong Wa Dae at the same time by a medical team from Seoul National University Hospital," an official said.

Actually older Asians, especially men, their eyelids get so loose they hang down in front of their eyes making it hard to see. Noh was having that problem, mildly before the surgery. Don't know about his wife. |

"I mulled over it for four to five years before finally getting double eyelid surgery," says a 36-year-old professional woman. As a college freshman, she felt like an ugly duckling-her friends walked away from blind date setups with partners but she was always the one left alone. "I wanted to be seen as pretty and saw an eyelid job as a way to become prettier," she explains. Plus, her older sister got her eyes done around that time and she saw the change first hand.
But it would take a jilted love for her to actually get the surgery done at 25. "I was feeling really low," she recalls. Although her new eyes did not change who she was, she felt a whole lot better. She confesses that she sometimes contemplates getting something else done to make her eyes more almond-shaped. "I think it can be improved."
According to Dr. Joo, she is not alone. "Addiction is particularly prevalent among patients who get facial contouring surgeries," he says. Facial contouring can be performed on the forehead, cheekbones and jaw.
Brave souls who go under the scalpel. By Kim Hoo-ran, The Korea Herald (February 25, 2005)

Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes - features that make you look older and more tired than you feel, and may even interfere with your vision. However, it won't remove crow's feet or other wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under your eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows. While it can add an upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes, it will not erase evidence of your ethnic or racial heritage. Blepharoplasty can be done alone, or in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a facelift or browlift.

What about
1. couple eyelid surgery (man and woman have surgery at the same time)?
2. home surgery (house calls in Korea)?
3. "presidential couple" or national leaders undergoing cosmetic surgery at home by a medical team from a university hospital?
"The presidential couple had the operations at Chong Wa Dae at the same time by a medical team from Seoul National University Hospital," an official said.

I think its all a pile of BS....
Have you ever heard of more ridiculous reasons for getting surgery?
Lashes poking, lids saggin and blocking site....?????
Why don't they just say, "I got lots of dough, and all my friends have done it."
Just pure madness IMO...there is no need for that type of stuff. Kids in high school saving up for surgery....good examples being set here.
Be proud of your natural looks.... |
