Sorry for another hockey post, but has anyone heard about this? Does anyone know about the new Asia League? There are eight teams in this league. The teams are from Russia, Japan, South Korea and China. Each team plays 42 regular-season games. Russia and Japan have the strongest teams; Halla, the Korean team, is in fifth place. What's the level of play like?

Never apologise for hockey posts. Far too little of that.
I'd love to go see Tik! He used to drive my Jets (and therefore me) crazy. One of the best "do the job" guys I've ever seen.
Anyone know where the home schedule can be found? |

I saw a few games on TV and essentially the hochey is very European, They are fast, and skilled, but not strong on the puck. I'm sure a good Jr.B team would give them hell back home. Even The Gecko team would probabally give them a tough game.
Hey it's still hockey and with the lockout, it's better than nothing. |

Very cool. Don't apologize. I miss hockey terribly. I have fond memories of Esa Tikkanen as I am an Oilers and Capitals (Crapitals last year ) fan. Why did he have to miss that open net in the Stanley Cup finals versus Detroit. Ah the memories. Anyway, where is the home rink for the Korean team? I'd love to catch some games. |

A few friends and I live in Anyang and we plan to go see some home games in January. I think they are around the 25th. Anyone else is free to join. Tickets cost 5000 won each. |

Man, it looks like the next home game isn't till Feb. 24, which is a Thursday (not so good for most of us). However, they also play Saturday, Feb. 26.:

I've been meaning to go to one of these for quite a while. Maybe this one will finally be it. They had way more games back in October-December, but they're on the road a bunch (mostly Russia, this month).
They play at Anyang Arena, which is a short taxi ride away from Anyang Station (just tell the driver "Anyang Undong-Jang").
I met Tik back during the World Cup of Hockey- actually, he watched the Canada/Finland game with a bunch of us... Pretty funny. |

Is there a team in Seoul and does anyone have a link?
Does Tik still have his cue-ball haircut? |

Tik...founder of "Tikkanese". Jari Kurri once said that even he couldn't understand Tikkanen when he spoke...and they were both Finns! Don't be surprised if he winds up in one of your classes. |

The calendar you linked has games on Feb. 18, 19, 24, 26, 27. Or am I missing something? |

'fraid you're missing a small something... The games on the 18th and 19th are in Russia. I'd like to see some hockey, but I'm not going up to Havorovsk for it!
(I have no idea if there's a place in Russia called "Havorovsk"- it was a romanization of the hangelization of the Russian. Boing.) |

Halla Winia's slim playoff hopes were dashed last weekend when they lost terribly 5-0 and 9-2 in games played in Khabarovsk, Russia against the league's best defensive team, the playoff-bound Golden Amur.
This weekend, Tikkanen and company will play their last home games of the season in Anyang: Saturday at 3 p.m. against the Icebucks, just below them in the standings, and Sunday at 5 p.m. against league leaders Kokudo. |
