Hey all,

Was curious... this health plan insurance that I'm getting in my contract... what does it cover? Is this a standardized health coverage for everyone, or does each school arrange it individually?

I'm just kind of wondering what it covers? Does it include dental work and so on?

Thanks,

T

no dental and no eye care I have also been informed that prenatal care is not covered.

for more info go to

http://www.nhic.or.kr/wbe/wbea/2002/11/19/206,249,0,0,0.html

the FAQ section is where I got this info. A great place to learn about many things dealing with working in Korea Wink

older ladies should notice this benefit:

Quote:
Eligible beneficiaries who are 40 years or over can apply each year for examinations for stomach cancer, colon cancer, and rectum cancer. However, the costs of breast cancer tests are covered by NHI for females, and the costs of liver cancer tests are covered for persons diagnosed as having liver-related diseases

also means you get a free physical every 2 years

actually it does cover emergency dental. I had a root canal done for 20,000. The crown wasn't covered though.

Eye glasses are cheap, not sure about contacts though.

I've had many root canals done for that price, its why I like it here. Depending on the dentist you can negoitate discounts for the crowns

Glasses run about 50K and that includes exam and top quality lenses scratch resistant et al

Peppermint and hogwanguy getting root canals... I had a nightmare last night that I needed one and I couldn't find someone who spoke english so they ended up removing things that didn't need to be removed, not to mention the amount of pain endured. Good to know that the process isn't as convoluted as my dream.

Most Koreans know the word "discountuh", and I generally get about 10% off the asking price for glasses. It hepls that I have been going to the same place for a couple of years, and either break or lose my glasses on occasion. The glasses are cute and cheap, but not so sturdy. My current favorites cost me about 35,000. Very Happy
