i know there's a sticky relating to accomm with links but it doesn't really have what i'm after.

i'll be in seoul from march 12th-23rd. i will be staying with my g/f and we need a decent place to stay that's relatively central. we'll be doing the paperwork for marriage so need somewhere near the embassies/gu chung in jongro and gwanghwamoon.

i remember seeing somewhere people talking about nice places round jongro for 50-70,000 ?? a night with internet, cable etc. but i can't find it with search

does anyone know places like this or the equivalent? i don't want a goshiwon but i don't want the ritz. if you know decent places in the price range above could you let me know?

and importantly, directions?

thanks in advance

You're talking about up-scale Love Hotels.

Jacuzzi bath, Plasma TV, Internet, large well-appointed room. Available for 70,000-90,000 per night.

A bargain!!

Don't know about Jongno but there are many, many in Gangnam. Like The Lexy at Yeoksam Station. I've been there 4 times. Highly recommended.

There's a very clean, quiet yagwon behind the Plaza Hotel for
KW 35,000 a night. I stayed there for a week when I first came to Seoul. It's no bordello, I landed well.
Has free internet + coffee, the owner's son speaks good English. 5 min walk to City Hall, Samsung Plaza, and NamDaemun Market--pretty central.

Dae Woo Motel
65-1 Bukchang-Dong, Chung-Ku, Seoul

I tried to locate this one forever...it was recommended in the moon books...but when we got there, it looked like a hole...the outside was covered in playboy bunnies, and they only had rooms without beds. Is this the same one???

So we moved on to the Sae Rim Hotel in Insadong....nice rooms with internet 40,000 per night. Very close to Jongno..Gwanghwamun. We will stay there everytime we visit Seoul. Owner is super nice.

PM me for more detailed instructions.

thanks muchly. that was exactly what i was looking for. can you give more specific directions to the HERB hotel?

and directions for the emerald hotel. both sound like what i want.

one last query. my g/f seems to be of the opinion that many of the love hotels charge per 12 hours. we want to stay somewhere for 10 nights. can you do that at these places?

thanks

It could be, it's hard to find as it's tucked away in the back streets behind the Plaza. They usually tell you to call from the Plaza and they come pick you up. I don't remember the Playboy Bunnies, but it's definetly not a hole--the rooms are clean and quiet. I had a double bed.
