Anybody else go? What did you think?

She was fantastic, she could make the ABC's or Korean pop sound great.

The venue though STUNK!!!!!! a convention hall with plastic chairs ugghh plus it was flat seating so if you were in the back you couldn't see squat and had to rely on the TV screens. Also the accoustics were awful. Why couldn't they book her into the Sejong Center or the LG Arts Center both of those places are big enough?

Also the show was way too short at 90 minutes. She could of done some newer stuff or more covers.

I wonder if the people up front who paid 250,000 won felt they got their money's worth.

I didn't see Nora Jones, but I did see Sting in concert at Olympic Park. The venue also was terrible and "Korean efficiency" in managing big events is an oxymoron at best.
I paid for middle range seats and the staff just seated people wherever they wanted to. They didn't go by assigned seats and we ended up seated in low range seats. The staff was also horribly incompetent and couldn't figure out where the assigned seats were, or what the level marking were. We ended up missing the first 20 minutes of Sting just because some other people were seated in our seats.
Also, they sold beer at the concession hall but you were not allowed to bring it back to your seats!! You had to drink it in the lobby! I bought juice and they told me I couldn't even bring that into the concert (maybe they thought I was going to spike it with Vodka).
I've seen music concerts in other countries and countless times, and seeing one in Korea, as far as management, was by far the worst. The staff here should only be in charge of cleaning windows or picking up garbage, not actual managing.
Sting was great though, but his concert was also very short (90 minutes). Because we sat at seats we paid too much for (the low range), we couldn't see him either. I don't think I'll ever see a music concert in Korea again.

I went....agree with you 100% about everything....I am glad I didn't pay for the really expensive seats...since she invited us to the front anyways, and we got lots of photos...and the view was crappy no matter where you sat...

Her voice is amazing, and it was good, but ya, way too short I agree....everything you said was soooo true.

I would go see her again though.

Oddly enough, I received an email today from a Taiwanese woman I met in New Zealand who's going to the Norah Jones concert in Auckland next week and she's asked me to tell her the multiple meanings of the lyrics to "Don't know why". On one level it's literally about abandonment, at another level entirely sexual. How'd you interpret the lyrics?

another thing that stunk according to my SO was that there were no concessions other than 2 soda machines, one outside the venue and one inside, both had very long lines

Also it took forever just to get in, they had one set of doors open and at that entrance you had to funnell through a narrow opening, which they would only allow a few people at a time through.

My SO also remarked that Norah seemed upset over the accoustics and how far the auidence was from her

I was so dissappointed with the venue I may send a letter to the papers about this. Like Polychronic we may not go to another concert here again unless its at Sejong or the LG Center.

I went to the Sting concert with a journalist friend of mine. She basically bashed the organzization of the event and wrote how horribly disorganized Olympic park is and to never see a concert (or at least pay for high range seats) here. It's getting publicity. She mainly tours around the world and critiques concerts (cool job, huh?) I'm not sure if she saw Nora Jones, but if she did, I'm sure she's writing a flamed piece on it now.

I went to the Norah Jones concert and I paid 150,000. I felt like I totally got screwed. The sight of the plastic lawn chair made me furious. Also, Koreans are so boring. Everyone around us was so quiet and only clapping. All the woo-hooing was done by the waygooks. I could have just paid 50,000 and stood near the stage like everyone else. I will not go to a concert at CO-Ex ever again.

Ya, the plastic chairs were pretty lame. I thought the more expensive seats would be better....

She did take a jab at the echoing that was happening, and the big space in front of her...that's why I am glad she asked us to come up to the front....

They had one security guy there trying to hold us all back, and telling us to go back to our seats....I would have obeyed...but figured would they listen to us in our countries? Not likely....maybe it's a bad attitude to have...but I felt like for all the times I am pushed around and not listened to or respected here....this was a good time to disobey.

And given their set-up, I felt I deserved a better view for a short time, given the money spent.

Maybe Koreans see Norah Jones as a 'jazz' artist? Polite society in the Far East believes jazz should be quietly and seriously listened to.
