Ok, as always I did a search and realize that SIMILAR things have been asked, but I'm rather dense and couldn't figure out enough- so here's thw question:

For sending home packages, is it better to use the Korean postal system or UPS/DHL/ the like? If it matters, I'm shipping to East coast U.S.

It also depends on how quickly you need them and how much you want to spend. If you're in no rush to get them, send them surface...sure, it'll take a month (or longer) but it'll be cheap. I sent a large box to Canada via Korean surface mail for about 30 000...but it hasn't arrived yet (it's been about 6 weeks) I don't know the cost of Korean air-mail/freight.

If you have any friends in the military, give them money and get them to send it for you...they get domestic postal rates when shipping to the U.S. We (my wife and I) just had two pretty enormous suitcases mailed to us airmail for about 80 bucks each, and they got here in about 8 or 9 days. We also had 4 largish boxes shipped surface that were 25-40 bucks each and took just under a month. They contained mostly books, and some clothes. (We're on the east coast btw)
I'm pretty sure the couriers would cost you a mint for anything bigger than a shoebox..especially if they're heavy.

Wow, any chance your military friend would ship something from the East Coast over for me?! Laughing I really want to get my baby an exersaucer, none available in Korea. The last I asked, shipping would cost 370$.... not to mention tax.. Sad
