Can anyone direct me to some tanning places in Seoul, preferably in the Itaewon area? I checked out the place above Burger King and it's 100,000 for 10 sessions (oh, and a free 'service' session).....i used to go in Mapo, near Daehung station and it was 80,000 for 12 sessions....just wanna know if there's any other placees I should check out. I need some colour!

i don't want to sound like your father, but please make sure, wherever you soak up the UVs, that they change their bulbs with proper frequency.

I believe pro nails, behind the Hamilton. does tanning, but I've got no clue on prices or anything.

Do Korean women in Korea tan themselves these days or do they still favor the deathly pale tone? I remember when my cousin visited us in the States about 10 years ago--looked like a damn kabuki dancer.

Depends what ideal they're trying to attain I think.

I would say the majority want to be as white as possible...

because.....

1. you get whitening masks with most makeup purchases
2. most face make up contains whitener
2. if i go in the sun, i am burned looking and ugly to my students
3. Halle Berry is considered ugly here
4. must wear visor or use umbrella to protect from sun
5. closing of curtains on bus to avoid sun
6. students make fun of dark students-praise whiter students
7. most schools/recuiters here only want to hire white looking people
8. go to the beach wearing full clothing

My guess is most folks here don't want to get a tan. Did I miss anything?

WTF?? Halle Berry is fuckin' HOT.

Then why do tanning salons exist there? To cater to foreigners?

I would say so...Westerners are the only folks who think being brown is cool. Since there are tonnes in Itaewon where most of these tanning places are located...it makes sense.

I would say the odd Korean who is into hip-hop wouldn't mind being darker...but that's about it. But even then.....

yeah that applies to the ugly people... most sexy Korean women I know all get tans. And the ugly trollops that hang out in Itaewon dont count... the Apku crew definately get tans.

I think there are some Korean wowen who tan.....there weren't many foreigners where I used to tan. Once and a while I see a nicely tanned Korean lady. But most prefer to be white. My Korean friends don't understand because they said that whiter skin covers imperfections....and I think the opposite. They're actually wiser to shield themselves from the sun, but then again, all the chemicals they use to whiten their skin probably cancels that out.

Thanks, pep, I'll check out pro nails.
