I bank with Nonghyup. I checked the forums, but haven't seen a question like this posted.

Is there some way to set up an automated money transfer such that:

"When the exchange rate from CAD to WON reaches _X_, transfer _Y_ dollars to my Canadian account. If it doesn't drop to _X_, then don't transfer anything. Make the transfer a maximum of one time per 30 day period."

The goal is to free myself up from monitoring the exchange rates and wondering how the ones at my bank compare to the ones I'm seeing online. Also, this will result in peace of mind, since I will set up the rules for myself in a smart way one time, and then free my worrying mind for the rest of the year.

What do you experienced folks think, pipe dream?

i dont think it's possible to do. but it would be a great idea.

thankfully im a canadian and the cdn dollars bath vs the us has saved me somewhat during this economic crisis.

ive made myself do a similar thing to what you suggest doing automatically... that being sending money home when the value is at "x" in july i sent home 10 mil when the exhange rate was at 997 and last week i sent home 7.5 mil when it dipped to 1040. in my mind in july i decided anytime it goes near par im sening a lot home and last week i was thinking anytime it got under 1100.

i guess the main thing to understand is that you cant control the exhange rate... but you can make smart choices as to when to send money to benefit from the rates as much as possible.
