Anyone know if these do anything for air pollution, or even work at all?

They seem kind of expensive.

I would like to have cleaner air in the apartment (city air is horrible in Korea), because we have a baby now. I was thinking one of these might be good.

I bought an air purifier (HEPA and ionizer) for around 200.000W+ when I had dreadful allergy problems from black mould in an apartment - the allergies cleared by about 80 - 90%. The apartment I'm in now just has the usual 'drain/kimchi/other people's smoke' smells and it's hard to tell how much difference the purifier makes - but it certainly can't hurt!
