...or Korean dramas.
My wife's sister's friend's sister (in her twenties) was in a car accident recently and apparently hurt her head. She's now in the hospital and thinks that shes eight years old.

Any other interesting/dramatic events to share?

I have an evil twin who's secretly dating my ex-wife, but apart from that it's business as usual

I'm having a little trouble with getting 'zany' and 'brain damaged' in synch, but maybe this story from one of my former students/friends will fit the bill.

The phone was ringing when my friend BK got home. It was one of his close friends he hadn't seen for some time. They got caught up and then BK's friend brought up the reason for the call.

The friend's company was sending him to England for several months. The problem was that his younger sister (23 years old) had been sick recently and wasn't well enough to stay alone. Since their parents were dead, the friend asked BK if she could stay with him and his wife while he was out of the country.

BK said he would talk to his wife and let him know. BK's wife agreed to the proposal.

A few days later the friend and his sister drove down and she moved in. The young woman looked weak, but had a nice personality. She fit in in the family and things went well. She even went to BK's mother's birthday party.

Some months went by. One afternoon BK was home alone. The friend called from England to check up and let them know he'd be home in two months. Then he asked if his sister was taking her medicine.

BK was caught off guard by the question and answered, "Of course". He didn't know anything about any medicine.

After they hung up, BK went in the woman's bedroom. He openned a drawer in her desk. He saw her diary. He openned another drawer and saw a lot of medicine. He said he knew he shouldn't do it, but he read part of her diary. It worried him. He found a phone number of a hospital and a doctor's name on one of the envelopes of medicine.

He called the hospital and talked to the doctor. The doctor said the woman had come in for a check up because of anemia. The tests indicated a brain tumor. She had surgury. She was told she could never have children.

Not long after moving in with BK and his wife, the woman went back to the hospital for a check up. The doctor told her she would only live another 3 or 4 months.

The news broke her spirit. She stopped taking her medicine.

For the next month BK and his wife did everything they could to make her feel loved. She died on April 5, 2002 without ever seeing her brother again.

BK said he hoped she had a better luck in her next life.

************

I thought twice about posting this story. In the end, I decided BK wouldn't mind, since he told the story to the class. Later he handed it in for a writing assignment.

When I read posts saying it is not possible to have meaningful conversations with Korean men, this is one of the stories that I think of.

It's a fact that Korean men, despite the disparaging remarks made by me and others on this board, are human beings too.

Nice goin' "eamo". It's always nice to hear that sexism, racism and bigotry are alive and well on boards like this.
