4 months after moving into my neighbourhood one of the local ajummas actually acknowledged my existence (rather than walking past eyes averted as they all normally do).
It was because I was ripping feathers out of the corpse of a roadkill pigeon on the street. I think she thought I was gonna be using them for some kind of pagan sacrifice. Well, she was right: Tomorrow my privates are gonna be making dream catchers with them.
The look of horror on her face was priceless. Thrice she muttered, "But it is dead," and three times I replied: "You are right."
After that the crock crowed. |

Dude....
I hope you washed really well after that....pigeons are not referred to as "flying rats" for nothing.
They are rife with ticks, fleas, and lice...and who knows why it was dead??? It could've been carrying some disease that killed it....like encephalitis which is easily transmitted to humans and HAS killed or nearly killed many people... (west nile virus, anyone?)
She was probably concerned for your health... |

Meh... if he wants to adorn his privates with pigeon feathers that's between him and his god, I guess. |

That is a completely tasteless biblical "allusion." What is a crock? Something you are full of? |

i think he is going to use the feathers in an art project (american indian dreamcatchers) for the military privates under his command.
imho, the lady was merely commenting on something that anyone in any country would find peculiar.
the only other interpretation for this is that only living pigeons have their feathers plucked in korea. |

I'm confused too. Is this dude serious? The thought of some little kid making an art project out of disease-ridden dead pigeon feathers is pretty disturbing.
but boy, that ajumma sure was crazy to question why he was picking feathers off a dead bird. what a nutcase she was! stupid koreans! (sarcasm) |

Deffo is a perfect example why background checks wont work. I dont think background checks would uncover mental illness. |

Maybe...oh well, maybe is f'ing nuts, maybe he made up the story. Who knows, th e point is darn you people can be haters. Just ignore posts by people you consider to be "short bus" |

I think it's safe to say the sight of someone pulling feathers off a rotting bird in the street deserves a second look. In any country.
Can't say he's not a stickler for class preparation!
I'm curious if the dream-catchers worked or did the students have nightmares about their teacher hacking at dead birds anyway. |

Disease is a fairly reasonable concern here because of massive pigeon overpopulation.
Fear can still be unreasonable among Koreans.
I was walking with this one girl, and she stops in front of a flock of pigeons. "What's wrong?" "I can't go that way, I'm afraid of pigeons."
I looked at her while that sunk in and then laughed at her.
"Come on." I said, and tried to tug her by her arm. She pulled back and actually started to cry. I couldn't believe it. So I scared the pigeons away and we went on our way.
I pretty much felt like an A-hole, but I've never heard of such a phobia before, and I figured she was joking.
And some of you people are missing the fact that this guy isn't talking about kids. He's talking about his soldiers. What? You really think this guy is weaving dreamcatchers with his genitals? Although if he can I'll be really impressed.
Now the thing that escapes me, is just why he's having his soldiers weave dream catchers. Sure hope it's voluntary bud. |
