I was on a bus out to Pangujin in Ulsan a while ago and noticed a lot of smoke stacks of oil tankers sticking up over concrete fences. Wasn't just a few either; there were a lot of them. Seems I was on the bus for a good thirty minutes while looking at the upper hulls of tankers under construction. I think they also have a similar shipbuilding yard or yards in Koje.

I'm wondering if it's possible to take a tour of these places. I've also heard that they might move the whole industry to China, because the price of steel is going up.

Anyone out there know if tours are available.

Id love to see the Ulsan shipyards because they are the biggest in the world. It would be amazing to be able to tour. I think you can.

If you want a tour of the Ulsan shipyeards your best bet would be to ring the owners of the shipyards in Ulsan who are Hyundai who virtually own half the city.

Here is their website
http://english.hhi.co.kr/About/Social.asp

And go to contact us on the right and you should be able to find something.

Also if that is no luck the Ulsan Hyandai Hotel will definantly know..it is situated right at the front gates and reception should be able to help you.
Here is their English website

Hope I could have helped you in some way Very Happy
