In my hagwon I taught many Buddhists' as well as other various people's kids. I found that some English teachers spread their religious beliefs through their position. I found those kids who matched up with the teacher's side to have a haughty sense of acceptance, while mocking those of a different background. It was the same in the staff room. When there was a higher percentage of the "saved" they polluted the environment with an oppressive lack of acceptance for the other teachers' beliefs, and right to privacy as regards such matters. How is a world comprised of such diverse customs, beliefs and histories ever going to attain harmony in the eyes of each "religion" secluding itself as the last word on what's true? My own view is that there is more than one kind of tree, fish, insect etc. Is it so impossible to believe in a world where we'd best learn to embrace eachother's differences? That there may be more than one way home? |

I don't think religion should be taught in English hagwons. Most Koreans are not Christian. It is not good for business. |

Religion has no place in education unless it's part of a course. |

Quebec grew up and stopped being hopelessly backwards when Lesage threw the priests out of their schools--> The Quiet Revolution. |
