From the Korea Wiki:

Quote:
Quotes from people using internet services at home in Korea:

Ktf megapass lite. the bill is tied in with my landline and I think it comes to something like 36 or 38,000 a month. I wasn't sure about the megapass lite at first but it's way faster than either the cable or adsl I had in Canada and I usually get speeds comparable to my t1 connection I had in uni.

I recommend Hanaro. About 33,000. When I signed up for them last year they were offering a free gift to the value of 70,000. Nice... I picked a rice cooker.

28,000/mo. for ADSL + landline with Hanaro.

45 000 won / month Hanfos Cable

Very Fast ...

KT NTopia VDSL, 39,000/mo. 10 MB/s up and down. whee! Very Happy

VDSL *drool*

I'm stuck on a crappy DSL connection on a computer ruled by a cognitively challenged Celeron chipped computer. Crying or Very sad

The internet and a lot of technology in Canada leaves a lot to be desired and I can't wait to plug my computer back in to the super fast connections in Korea when I return from vacation.

You're dead to me!!! Wink

It's actually quite funny, I'm taking advantage of a basement suite at my parents' house for free rent while on vacation and they just bought this computer which I have to use for internet access. They have a cable dsl conection and this brand new eMachine computer with a Celeron coprocessor. They think that their setup is the cats meow! Anyways, I noticed that their firewall was allowing traffic through which was very suspicious, their free 3 month trial of Norton 2004 was run out, their computer was unoptimised, poorly maintained (no spyware/adware/malware protection at all, no disk cleanup action happening, and it wasn't updated correctly). So, I took it upon myself to give them a filing system and get some security happening on their computer. Now they are complaining that all of the software I added to their computer is slowing their computer and internet surfing down and that it is all MY fault. They haven't quite figured out that their computer is crap for what they want to use it for (image rendering/editting for their new Canon d20). This computer would only be sufficient for some word processing and sending email. I don't think they even realise that it has limitations in terms of surfing speeds due to the setup of their computer and their turtle connection. Seriously though, in Korea, the last time I installed MSN Messenger, I downloaded the exec files in about 30 seconds, here, it takes upwards of half an hour! Truly ridiculous!

What a rant! Embarassed

Demo, when I get back, I'll make sure that I get nothing less than VDSL and I'm gonna scope out your house (both of them, in fact!), and burgle your many gadgets which I am sure will go to good use in my techno-junky lifestyle!

Don't complain. When I go home, my parents are still on 56k dial-up.
