I was here when and before Korea was separated. Recall the cries of discrimination and what-not. But why, for example, are current events only discussed (on their own forum) here?
I think it is past time for the whole international community to participate in such a forum.
We are talking about years since the change, but I'm sure even newcomers to this site are baffled as to the division between forums.
And Korea was separated from a single, main forum. Let there be country-by-country forums, but let the international forum take on the resilience of the Korea forums.
I believe that it would bolster participation in the cafe as a whole.
The only forum I don't think would translate is the buy/sell/trade/forum for obvious reasons.
All others would benefit from an increased number of people.
Are there detractors?
Who agrees? |

I would think there would be too much threads to handle. As a result, instead of seeing the new hot topic in Korea or a simple visa question on the first page, you would have to scroll endlessly down the forum section to find anything of relevance. Added to that, you would probably get responses from people who have no experience whatsoever in Korea and would be terribly annoyed. |

Before I start to fry your post, please allow me to scream at you for putting this thread in every forum, thus proving you are a troll and an idiot. Consider it done.

This was done, I'm sure, because of the sheer amount of petty arguments and stupid name-calling was annoying the vast majority of the regular surfers here. In a stroke of genius, the moderators or Dave himself decided to give these crybabies and losers (not everyone that posts there, just a few) a place to complain and argue all to themselves where the rest of us don't have to waste our time moving right past them in the "off-topic" forum.

Maybe, but a lot of the crap there is based on the Korean point of view or whatever. If other boards have the amount of posts necessary for this, let them have their own forum for current events.
Part of what I liked for a while when that board started was that we were all from different places, but at least had some shared experiences here in Korea to go from. Talking to an Egyptian or Croatian teaching in Botswana or Sri Lanka about US Politics doesn't really do anything for me. Therefore, let them be. And let us be.

This is the stupidest point you make. Why on earth would anyone be baffled by the division? It makes perfect sense. There are a lot of threads and discussions here, nicely sorted out into a few main categories. If you want to talk about Job stuff, go to the Job Forum...If you want advice on how to survive or what to do in Korea, go to the Living Forum...if you just want to chat with people in Korea about stuff not related to Korea, go to the Off-Topic Forum...same with the Tech and Current Events. It makes perfect sense. I'm not a newbie per-se, but I'm relatively newer than some of the old folks around here. I really liked the division of the forums and think it was a great idea. I was never baffled by it, I was struck by it's intelligence and simplicity.

Basically, I'm tired of responding now. If you don't like it, leave. If you like it, cool.
