Has anyone ever taught in Iksan? How is it? The director of a school there (Cliff Kim) tells me it's a city of 300,000 so it sounds pretty big. Are there a lot of foreigners there? I don't want to be isolated.

Iksan has everything every Korean city has, minus a large selection of ex-pat bars and department stores with a variety of western goods.

There are a number of foreigners (westerners) in Iksan, but from the people I have known who lived there indeed felt isolated. You can catch a train or bus to Seoul on the weekends no problem, but to do this every weekend would cost you a fair bit in the long-run.

>. My gf grew up in Ilksan. I've been there around a dozen times. As stated earlier it's got a good little community of ex-pats and downtown westerner hang outs. Before my gf moved closer to me, my big highlight was taking the train up from Gwang-Ju & playing poker as well as going bowling with a group of English teachers on weekends Wink
