M-bag is a service in which you can sent printed material ONLY, supposedly at a discount. I'm interested in sending some books home (USA) through Korea Post's M-bag, but I think I got some misinformation today.

In the states, it's around $14 to send 10 lbs. to Korea. The guy at the local post office here told me that it would be 81,000 won for 10 kg. to USA. Anyone else ever sent anything home with M-bag? How much did you pay?

Thanks,
-T

I think the information you got is right.

If you go here, click on English and click on International Mailing Stamps on the left, then Rates of International Mails, then M-bag. You will see their rates.

USA is Zone 3 and 10kg = 81,000 won.

If I were you I would send those books via surface mail - unless you need them urgently.

10kg on surface is just 20,000 won.

Actually.. looking at the thing it's kinda confusing. I think the M bag thing is airmail but they also have M-bag surface mail. I think you have to specify whether you want them to go surface or air. The word for surface mail in Korean is seon-pyun (). Hope this helps.

I wish Canada had a media rate. Americans should never knock their postal service. Sure sometimes a lot of people get shot, but in general it beats the ass off of Canada post in terms of price and delivery times.

What's the difference between M-bag surface and parcel surface? Is M-bag cheaper? Do they take about the same time? I need to send some books home.

Parcel surface mail for 10kg is 28,000 won. M-bag is 20,000.

for zone 3.

I shuld imagine they take about the same time.
