I just got my visa from the consulate in Seattle. Unlike the old one I got 3 years ago, it's fancy and stuck onto my passport instead of stamped. Also, unlike the old one, instead of saying it was good for entry for 3 months after the stamped date and expires within a year of entry, it just says it's good for 1 year and gives the expiration date as ONE YEAR FROM WHEN THEY ISSUED IT. Does this mean they are actually expecting me to leave the country a year from issue date, which is 15 days before my year of teaching is up, or will they count the year, as they did before, from when I enter Korea? Confused
Thanks,
Margaret

I got a C-3 like that in Washington, D.C. a year ago. I was wondering if they were issuing E-2s like that. I don't know about your expiration date problem. Obviously, that's not a problem I have!

I received the same "sticker" E-2 last June and I asked questions in Osaka.

The "Date" is from your entry into in Korea which is printed on your A.R.C.

The Alien Registration card has the relevent date and is what the immigration officers want to see upon your final trip out.

I have a D-2 which is the same thing - a sticker. The immigration officer stamped right on the sticker visa when I entered the country.

My ARC has the relevant dates on it - the expiration date on the visa is how long you have to enter the country until that visa expires. Since I have a six month visa, the ARC date is six months from when I actually entered Korea.

Thanks, folks for your replies. You were much more helpful than the consulate. When I called and asked them about it they said "don't worry, it's OK" without saying why.
