I've been doing school-related stuff since Friday evening (after Survivor) and, except a few hours for eating, sleeping and scanning through Dave's while waiting for something to print, I haven't had a break.

I still have one more class to prep for tomorrow (easy prep, fortunately) before I'm finished.

But you know what? It's all good. I like what I do.

What advice would you give for classes that are very low, used to having grammar lectured at them, and are unfamiliar with activities are that communicative in design. I try to anticipate what problems will come up, but it is like pulling teeth getting them to do a communicative activity in class, and one that is graded to their level.

Explain the importance of practice (communication). Explain the purpose of the activity. Put them into small groups or pairs. Explain, demonstrate and give them a copy of the instructions. Pretend to by playing with my notes while actually giving them a few minutes to figure out amongst themselves what they are supposed to be doing.

Ready-made English I and II have some good interviewing activites, with a grammar point, that can be used for pair work.

A common comment I get from students a few weeks into a semester is how odd they originally found group work but how much they've grown to like it.
