I'm in a public school (YAY) and K co-teacher has been exceptionally nice. Her English isn't great but she's quite helpful and friendly. She and her husband have had me out twice now - once just for a nice lunch and other time for trip to Buddhist temple and REALLY nice (suspect quite expensive) lunch.
I would like to reciprocate. SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE?
Husband is off to US in April (SOON!) to Las Vegas for a convention. I was thinking that if I invite them to a restaurant -maybe find a MEXICAN or LATIN AMERICAN (suggestions, please!) restaurant - I'm sure there are loads in Las Vegas. (He has already said K's don't eat Mexican - I suspect he's never had any - so maybe this is not a good idea. Any other suggestions welcome.)
I'm in Kunpo (Gunpo) near end of line 1/Suwon - they of course have car but I wouldn't want to ask them to drive far.
I'm also wondering if fixing dinner at home is reasonable reciprocity after 2 dinners out. I'm sure I can find enough at the Itaewan Red Door for a western feast of some kind - whether they'd like it????
Thanks for any suggestions

Cooking is a good option. I often invite friends and cook.
Go ahead and impress them with your culinary skills . |

I agree inviting them to your home and cooking them up something western will probably impress the hell out of them.
I have cooked spaghetti for Koreans and it went over very well. They also loved the chili I made. The stew they liked but admitted it tasted funny(I knew I shouldnt have used clown meat....tastes funny )
It will also allow them a glimpse into how the foreigner lives(they are usually very curious) |

I have an honestly great authentic Italian Red Sauce recipe that blows Koreans and Italians away!! The recipe was given to me by an Italian guy who moved to the U.S. ten years ago, and it is easy to make, not expensive, and all of the ingredients - including Italian-American sausage if you like to eat sausage - are available 365 days per year at the famous Hannam Supermarket in Seoul.
Anybody who would like this recipe is free to procure it from me via P.M. |
