Hey there,

Just signed up for the Boards, and wanted to say hello.
Also, wondering if anyone has advice or experience from living in Cheongju to share.

I spent a year and a half in Daejeon, and now I am in Cheongju.
Seems to be a pretty lowkey place, and I am still looking to find some
exciting things to do around here.

Drop a note, or whatever's clever.

Cheongju KOTESOL has a chapter meeting this coming Saturday. Maybe you can go there and meet up with fellow expats teachers?

The place is :

ѱܱп in â

Han-goog-way-goog-or-hak-won in sar-chang-dong

Well, it is the one on the LEFT (seeing that they have 2 campuses)... If you can't read Hangul, tell me and I will explain.

Yeh, I can read Hangeul just fine.

But tell me, what is KOTESOL. I am totally interested to meet some other foreigners around here.

I will take this into considersation. Did you mention what time this thing kicks off? (I will go back and read it again). Also, where in relation to downtown is this? I am overi n Yong am Dong, and wonder what sort of Taxi fee I'd be looking at. Cheers.

Also, any suggestions for a good hiphop club?

KOTESOL is Korea TESOL. Click here for more information. It is a sister organisation of TESOL Inc.

Chapter meeting begins at 3pm. The presenter is tommynomad (he posts here too) and I am certain it will be a great workshop!!!!!!!

I have no idea where the place is in relation to anywhere - I live in Daejeon.. haha.. but I am going and with my baby too! Come along on Saturday (it's free and there will be snacks!) and ask those questions yourself.. I know some at least one person has lived in Cheongju for over a year or 2 or may be even 3!

One of the more active areas in near Chungbuk University.. the area is called (Choong-dae choongmoon)..

Bars with a spattering of foreigners include O-Bar, Road King, Woodstock, Pearl Jam and the Attic.. I heard a rumour that Pearl Jam might be closing down. but whatever, the rest are good on the right night..

As for hiphop clubs well, you'll be searching methinks.. Mr. Lee at O-Bar is a great guy and will play any requests though, and if you bring in your own music, he'll be more than happy to play it for you..

Cool, good stuff.

I am actually been here for about 4 months now, but, only now is the Cabin fever starting to Kick in.

Not too sure about going to a Workshop on a Saturday, but, at the same time, I always like to brush up on some teaching hints and suggestions.

How about like a social club (that sounds so 1987), but all I mean, is a group of people who do the meeting up for drinks thing, or hiking up to the mountains sort of deal.
