I did a dearch but a billion things came up tht did not look related tp my question. I also looked in FAQ. Was expecting to find a sticky on this.
O.K. My university placed me in an Officetel. I love it and I pay 350.00, utilities inclusive. It is off campus but only a few second walk to campus. I love the place. Much better than the faclities on campus.
I have just been informed that the school is withdrawing the key money it had paid for the place.
I understand how to pay Key Money, what worries me is getting it back in a timely fashion. Knowing the value of contracts in Korea, I fear dishing out millions to someone and then when I leave the place having difficulties securing the money.
Anyone have experience/advice on this? |

| If you leave at the end of your lease, they have an obligation to return your key money on the day you leave. The thing to do is to inform them a month before your lease is up, so that they can prepare the money for you. Then remind them a week before you are due to leave - Korean have this innate ability to forget things when it comes to money leaving their pocket (sorry if I am generalising, but that's been my experience).... This being an officetel, they probably don't ask for a lot of key money, I'd say 5m or 10m tops, so you should be able to get it back without problem. |
