Seems like it's down more than not lately. We should all chip in to get the marmot some more bandwidth.

Frig - for the amount of time he puts in to that blog and pleasure he gets out of writing it, he should get himself a decent server. It wouldn't cost much at all.

I've been having good luck in the last year with several of those $10/year E-bay server deals that offer 10GB of space and loads of bandwidth (here's a typical one, though there are others- unlimited space and 10gb bandwidth). I have three of them, all with different companies, and they're surprisingly not a ripoff. I keep waiting for them to die on me, but they keep going. I've had to contact the tech support of two of the companies a couple of times, and have been surprised at how quickly they get back to me with real help or fixing something with their server that needs configuring.

I'm sure there are better options for cheap than what he's using.
Hope he gets it back soon. It's a great blog.

I got lucky by doing some web work for a client who gave me almost lifetime unlimited server usage on her servers as payment.

Dang, if it was still operating, I'd suggest using FreeRugbyWebHosting.com, but it seems to have died. I should check up on it.

Has anyone ever noticed a "Donations" section on the Marmot's Hole? I haven't. But, I was looking at the Korea Life Blog the other day and he's got people sending him money from time to time. Personally - and no offence, Shawner - I find the KLB to be too much mundane information about one person's life, which is why I so seldom read it (that said, I think it's a great site for people just arriving in Korea).

The Marmot's Hole, however, is required reading on my daily news hunt. I realize they fall into different categories, but I find the Marmot's Hole to be a rather more useful site for those of us living in Korea longterm and, if any, it should have a donation section for all the work Mr. Koehler puts into it.

You mean we actually agree on something? You must be in Canada and stoned. It was more fun when we were arguing about who invented insulin. If you missed it, the correct answer is my pancreas invented it.
