Well, it is all said & done. In 24 hours, we will be hopping on Thai Air & be gone for 2 months. Very Happy

A week of vacation around BKK, and then down to Phuket for the 1-month TEFL course there. Hotel seems nice enough, & I'll be renting a motorcycle for the month for weekend trips. Cool

After we finish there, back up to BKK/Pattaya area for Songkran festival, then working our way over to Cambodia for a few weeks, before flying back to the RoK.

We are considering trying to keep an online journal for the trip - pics & info about the class - but it may be harder when we get to Cambodia, as telecom there pretty much bites.

Hope you all have a nice thaw & early Spring; we'll try to update here, or provide a link if we go the journal route.

Regards from An-yang,

Glen & Christina Wink

(ps - if anyone meets a young guy who looks similar to Christina - ask his name. If it is 'Trey', then buy the guy a beer & give him whatever advice you can. He is staying here, housesitting for us while we're gone. 22, single, nice kid).

A balmy, warm, sunny afternoon here in the BKK.

After the flight in, we grabbed the airport shuttle bus to the Sukhumvit area. The weather has been really nioce - not too hot during the day, and slightly breezy in the evening.

We stayed around the Sukhumvit area last night, just having beers, shooting pool, and hanging out.

There have been a lot of changes to the general area in the past few years (2 years since I've spent time here) - the city seems to be going slowly ahead with it's anti-red light district cleanup; some of the beer gardens are closed, and they demolished the whole old Clinton Plaza area. The Westin has taken over the old Pacific hotel; the Ambassador may be closing, as well.

On the plus sides, the Metro has finally opened up, making transpo even easier, & the number of touts & agressive tuk-tuk drivers seems down. There has been a large expansion of the Soi 4 area, making a cool Muslim hangout area - everyone sitting around in the early evening with Turkish water pipes & outstanding Halal foods.

For anyone curious, Nana area still seems about the same; we are going to Soi Cowboy after Christina has a spa afternoon, I have a long, lazy swim & we have some dinner. She wants to 'do' Patpong sometime later in the week, before we head down to Phuket.

(Aside to Manner of Speaking - I'll check on your tailor friend when I check on my friends in the same area. Let's hope everyone is ok.)

We are in Khao San area now, just relaxing & checking out the vibe. As an early Sunday afternoon goes, it seems quiet & peaceful enough. We just passed a corner vendor advertising/selling degrees. Transcripts & phone reference covering available for extra fees. Shocked We wonder if any of the people there were heading to Korea . . . Crying or Very sad

We hope this finds everyone in good health & spirits; we'll be back around May 1st, & think it would be nice to do a Cinco de Mayo / burrito party, since we all have off for Children's Day anyway.

G Very Happy & C Twisted Evil

If George is still around, I think he'd be more than glad to do one. I talk to him fairly often, so if you want, I'll mention it to him.

Ah, I was wondering how you've been man. I didn't even know this thread existed.

I'm curious about the course. You haven't posted in awhile so should we take it a hint that it is intensive?

Definately give us updates about the course, if you have time!

How much is it costing you, etc? What are the details?

Thanks.
