I've be wondering about the above slogan I have read on the sides of
the Wonderland shuttle buses: There appears to be a hidden premise,
an omitted qualification that strikes me as both humorous and true -
except the foreign teachers. Cool

It's a motto. Of course not everyone smiles at Wonderland. But I don't see what you're getting at. Are you implying that it's ironic that this is the Wonderland motto but no foreigner smiles at one? Do you think this because you feel that all Wonderlands are bad? Care to explain more?

I smile at Wonderland. I love my wonderland. Just signed an extension at my school.

If you don't like a motto, don't worry about it. If you do, don't worry about it. If you don't work at Wonderland, don't complain about it. Got it?

I have to wonder how anyone without a sense of humour can actually
smile at Wonderland or anywhere else. Cool

"Prisoner of Wonderland" is the number one piece of literature concerning hakwan life. That means Wonderland = Hell for forever more in our culture. Its like how Xerox=copy, as in "Xerox this for me please".

I couldn't really find that many recent negative comments about Wonderland when I was looking. They were all a couple years old. Are they not so bad anymore?

I'm about to start teaching at a Wonderland school. I read all the bad stuff and spoke to some people working there now. They had read the same things and said it was nothing like that anymore. Has Wonderland's reputation changed or are there just less whiny people around or on these boards?

Think they've gotten a good bit smaller since then, so there's less schools to complain about. They do kind of have the reputation of being the K-Mart of English schools though...
