help! after booting up and showing the windows 2000 splash screen, the screen just goes black. i can still hear the hard drive spinning so it doesn't seem like the hard drive died. it seems like a video card or screen issue. any suggestions? i appreciate it. thanks.

this was really stupid, but i figured out what the problem was. last night my roommate was using it and the battery died. the screen ended up dimming to save battery power. i just turned up the display brightness and everything was fine.
