| Met a guy the other day, didn't know exactly what to say about the legality of privates when you are on an F visa... can someone tell me, just in case I've got to answer the same question again in my future? |

| The difference that I gather is that, while still illegal by law, you can't be deported, only fined. I may be incorrect, though. |

Privates are, technically, not illegal, providing you ask for permission to do them.
And yes, an F visa holder cannot be deported, only fined. |
