I was informed by the Inchon Cable people that I need to provide them my ARC number before I can receive television service. I moved into my apartment on March 2nd. I did the visa run shortly thereafter and on Tuesday this week (March29) went to Immigration to apply for my Alien registration card. I will receive my ARC in about two weeks. Only then can I begin to receive television service.

Has anyone experienced this situation?

yes.

Why give television service to someone who is not a resident? How do they know you have a job and can pay your bills without an ARC?

I guess people in the United States have to provide their social security number to get cable television.

It might be similar to needing to have a certain kind of registration number in order to get Internet service.

How about needing an ARC to get a cellular phone?

How do they know you have a job and can pay your bills without an ARC?

You came to Korea to steal cable television service, right? Confess.

I am in exactly the same position but received cable without any problems. They even let me pay them 20,000 won of the installation fee at a later date because I didn't have the cash on me.

The point I was trying to make was has anyone experienced not having television service six or eight weeks from the beginning of their contracts because they didn't have their ARC. This would also apply to receiving telehone service as well.

Six weeks is the period of time I have to wait for my ARC. Not complaining just stating a fact.

Thinking back on it, my director was a nice guy, and put it all in his name.

Yeah, but that's cable service. You could still have a TV set and use an antenna.
