I need to renew my passort as it runs out in may next year. My ARcard ends in march. I may renew or work in another country.

What i want to know is, if i get a new passport, will it effect my current visa? or do i have to change it or anything?

I have a uk passport if that is any relevence.

It means that when you get it you have to make a quick trip to immigration to have the change noted in your file.

You are LEGALLY required to do this within 14 days (but they don't really panic over the dates).

IF you have a re-entry permit they will add/transfer it to your new passport. If you don't have one then they USUALLY won't make any change in your passport, just your computer file. Occasionally they may add a stamp to indicate your status in country to your passport but this is rare and I have never heard of it happening to a registered foreigner (has an ARC).

i recently had to get a new passport being 6 months into my current visa.
you will not get a new visa. however, you will have to take both of the passports with you, if you travel.

meaning, if you apply for a new passport make sure the embassy will send your old one back, too. or else you will have to get a brand new visa and i doubt your employer will do that.

i dont know anything about the arc. i asked my embassy and they said it doesnt matter. the information will be changed automatically.
besides, last time i travelled abroad, they gave me a departure and arrival stamp (although i presented both passports and arc).

I'm not really questioning this per se, but this seems a bit overkill to me, as after you've gone to immigration, your visa is the computer system, so having a copy of the sticker in your passport isn't necessary.

I came with one passport, extended my visa when I renewed my contract, went home and lost my passport during my homeleave but had it replaced before I left. I still had my ARC. When I returned, immigration at the airport wasn't eve phased. A couple clicks on the computer and everything was fine, despite the fact neither my original visa, nor my reentry visa was actually in the passport I presented.

Folks, when you get the new passport and take it to Immigration, the Immigration officer will put a visa in your passport. The new visa is not the honking big page-sized one the Korean consulates attach, it's a 1/2 page sticker. That sticker will say it's good for a single entry or for multiple re-entries. It still constitutes a visa.
