I need assistance! I have downloaded several episodes of a television show on my computer, but when I play them, I get a picture on the player (WMV), and the sound, but the video wont play...

What could be the problem?

One file's name is lost.109.hdtv-lol.[BT]

Any help would be greatly appreciated... Smile

I am assuming you are getting the 'waving lines' that play that accompany the sound.

Do you have any other players? HAve you tried opening the files with them? I have a variety and usually I try to open them in each of those and one will usually end up functioning.

What is the files ext? Is it .avi or .wmv... I have seen most of these and the ones I had were .avi

winamp usually plays those.

VLC media player is another that works great. at www.videolan.org...I find it to be a real workhorse player... whenever another player can't recognize a file, VLC is there.

you need something to decode the audio/video. Technically these are called codecs.

Do a google search and download the Ace Mega Codec Pack and your computer should play pretty much anything

while it plays anything... I just don't like the player itself so hesitated to recommend it. With the right codecs, it is rare you find a file that WMP cannot handle and I find that more familiar...

I'm a big fan of VLC and have it on both my Mac and my PC. The hotkeys make it easy to skip ahead on DVDs and it's a great player of last resort even if you usually prefer something else. And, it's free.
