The Principal has informed me that she wants to spend a ton of money on materials for the English department.
She wants me to compile a list of DVD's, CD roms, videos, storybooks, etc... for purchasing. They have to be suitable for grades 3 to 6.
"How much", I asked?
"As much as possible", she replied.

I'm not sure how to go about compiling such a list. Any ideas?

I get something similar from time to time when my department has budget to dump towards the end of a fiscal period (use it or lose it).

I do it all from my desk & make it as simple as possible for my supervisor. First I check out the online catalogues of the major publishers/distributors here (Cambridge, Penguin, Oxford, etc). Most of these sites are quite convenient & often show sample pages.

Then I type up an official-looking list with titles, authors, isbn numbers, & prices, as well as names & contact numbers of the local sales reps (all from the websites). Then all my supervisor has to do is pick up the phone or send a fax.

2 or 3 days later, voila, a big package appears on my desk. Nice!

Is this really private info? Why don't you want the rest of us to see?
