As I have never been to Korea before I have a question about the Visa process.

I want a multi entry visa (so that I can enter and leave the country for trips to Japan or China whilst in Korea). The school is sponsering me for an E2 visa - is the multi entry thing something I tick on the form and pay more for when getting my E2 visa - or is it called something all together?

If someone could it to me, then I would know what to ask the school for when getting the Visa.

Thanks!!!

You get it once you get here....

Go to immigration once you arrive and get your Alien card and you pay 50 000 won for it and they stamp it in your passport.

Very easy

Americans get a multiple entry visa automatically for the first year. The multiple entry stamp is only needed after the first year. ANy other nationalities the same?

nope this is only for americans.

There are two types of re-entery permits that you can get. If you want a single re-entry for your e2 you can do it at incheon airport. Head for check in Counters G and walk towards the wall and there's a sign saying immigration, go in a little corrider and it's on your right. Note you must have an, alien registration card, 30,000 won and a ticket indicating the period of your sojourn or you will be sent to the immigration office that you are regesitered at. If you want a multiple re-entry permit you must also go to your specific registeration office with 50,000 won, your alien regsistration card and your passport.

You get the multiple re-entry stamp on your E2 visa when it's issued or later by going down to your local immigration office or at the airport. Your school's got nothing to do with it.

American's get it automatically (every year, as far as I know and have experienced). Other nationalities have to pay 30k-50k won.

JacktheCat,

so if someone goes to Japan on a visa run, can they get a multiple re-entry visa stamped into their passports at the korean Embassy in Osaka/Tokyo/Fukuoka? or do they need the ARC in order to get it? still somewhat confused... Confused

If you are american you can get a multiple re-entry visa when you apply for the first year.

Everyone else and returning americans have to take their arc card to immigraiton

I disagree with this. I am American, I have been here 3 years, and have always gotten a multi-entry visa without going to immigration.

Americans get the multiple re-entry stamp on their E2 visa automatically when they apply for it at the consulate in Osaka\etc. It's just an M stamp on your E2 stickie in your passport. I'm on my 4th E2 now and have always gotten it automatically, no questions or extra money.

Other nationalities have to pay extra or get a separate stamp.

sorry I should have said extending americans. If you get a new e2 your fine but if you extend an old one apparently you need to get a new re-entry permit. That's what my neighbors got told when they went and extended their e2s.

Ah, yes that's correct.

Your multiple re-entry permit is only for 12 months and can't be extended like your E2 can.

This applies to all nationalities though, not just Americans.
