I've lived in Korea for the past 3 years and I've generally found korean pop music to be mostly tolerable. If there had been a few songs... ballads or hip-hop... that I didn't like, they were always balanced out by a regular stream of decent tunes sung by some pretty sexy women.

I've got to say lately, however, that the music the korean music industry is promoting seems to be the worst that I've ever experienced. I turn on the station in the morning and find myself listening to the same... although they are not the same really... song after song of ballad junk sung by guys crooning about love in voices that don't seem to fit them.

And if it's not the ballads lately, it's the hip-hop by guys either trying to imitate P.Diddy (the 'where is the party song') or some other western hip-hop artists. I'd exclude the Usher wannabes since they haven't been on recently.

As for the women... well my girls come on, and I couldn't be more unhappy with their latest songs... Jewerly's Superstar and Lee Hyo ri's Anymotion commercial.

Anyway, just wanted to vent. There are two songs I really do like right now though... one's called 'Question'... that's what k-pop used to be all about... and the other is Lena's Park's song where she's in the forest and water. Two songs in an ocean of crap.

I've never liked pop music much, but I have also noticed that there are a lot of really awful male singers on the radio these days. In the past, I didn't love the music, but I could at least admit that the singers could sing.
