Lack of Preparation for Foreign Job Fair
The first job fair of foreign businesses in Korea organized by both Seoul City and the Korea Foreign Company Association (FORCA) started Thursday. But the Foreign Business' Job Fair 2005 has disappointed many young jobseekers with its lack of preparation.
The city planned to hold an online job fair (www.hiseouljob.com) on April 14-29, ahead of an offline fair for two days on April 21 and 22 at COEX in southern Seoul to help unemployed young people,... The city had claimed that over 200 well-known foreign businesses such as 3M and Walmart would participate...
The Web site failed to provide any job opportunity until 12 p.m. yesterday. Even after related officials uploaded a few hundred job openings onto the Web site, most job opportunities were different from the initial promise of the city officials. Many job openings were also part-time or non-regular positions.
For instance, one job listed on the high-technology section of the site was for a part-time instructor position at a local teaching material company, Woongjin Think Big. And even waitress positions for a local Vietnamese noodle restaurant were included on the list.
