I have to take a written test for the Korean Driver's License tomorrow. If you have had to take this, please let me know:

1) is it in Korean?
2) what kind of questions does it ask?
3) where can I find a study guide for it (online...)?

Why oh why?! Dont you have a valid license from back home? You shouldnt even have to do any kind of test other than a quick eye test.

Only Canadians, to my knowledge, don't have to take a written test. Americans do, even if they have a valid license and already rock on the road.

1) It should be in English. If not, tell them to give you an English one.
2) The questions aren't all hard, but there are some trick answers and a few really obscure questions. Some stuff you simply won't know (who can seize your license and who can revoke your license...wtf). Your best bet is to examine the answers closely and make sure to relate them to the question directly. I had a really weird question about headlights that had my head spinning for a while.
3) No idea. I just walked in and passed on the first go, but it was a bit on the stressful side.

Also keep in mind that there are several different tests to deter cheating by studying for the exact answers. You only need 12 to pass, so go through and quickly get the ones you know are right so you can focus on the mind-bending handful.

That sucks for you heheh.

Took me 20 minutes and chump change to get my Korean license. I simply showed them my Ontario license. They then gave me a nice Korean license valid till 2012. heheheh Gotta love Korea.

Brits and French certainly don't have to take a written test either and maybe all other EU nationals. A Korean licence is recognised there so I guess it's a reciprocal arrangement. They do have to do the eye test, and hand in their EU licence.

Americans have to take a test?

I got to keep my Ontario license. Its expired and totally useless now, but who cares. I think the Korean license is recognized in Canada so if I ever have to drive there, Ill just use my Korean license. Would be hilarious to show a Canadian cop my Korean license if I was ever pulled over.

I'm a Canadian and was thinking of just letting my Canadian license expire. But now I'm curious, how do I go about switching it to a Korean one? Do I need to take a driving test or any other kind of test? How much do I have to pay? I imagine I would have to go to the same place as Koreans do for their licenses but if this isn't the case please let me know. Thanks! Smile

Thanks for your answer, Zyzyfer.

And yes, I'm from the U.S., so I have to take the test Embarassed

On a side note...the woman asked me if I wanted to take the test Tuesday or Friday. Tuesday was a holiday, so I asked if they were open that day. She said no, and then still waited for my response.
