Single Women Earn More Than Married Ones
The survey, by the Central Employment Information Office (CEIO), showed unmarried women earned W1.53 million (US$1,530) a month on average, W253,000 more than married woman with W1.27 million. By employment type, 53.5 percent of single women were regular employees, compared with only 31.5 percent of married women.

Married men earn W2.26 million a month on average, W531,000 more than single men with W1.72 million.

This isn't surprising to me. I worked at a hagwon where pay was based not on ability or qualifications, but on family situation.

1. Young female teachers living with their parents got the lowest pay. They got a little more if they lived away from home (like if they moved into the city from the country.)
2. . Married women got a little more than that (they have to provide for their family, but they have husbands who work.)
3. Young male teachers living with their parents got more (they have to save for their future family.)
4. Married men got the most (they have to provide for their wife and children.)

Guess who did the most work of course? The women who got paid the least. Pay ranged from about 500 000/month - 1.7/1.8.
