Reuters is carrying article on Korean fascination with blood types as indication of personality types. Granted, westerners can do this also with the tiresome "what's your sign" chit-chat, but this is kinda cute. Here's the link - and I know it's not exaggerated cuz last year a girl in middle school actually presented a paper on this subject as part of a speech competition where I worked.

Then there's the latest word (in my school's textbook, under "cultural tips") on western punctuation. Seems we're in love with EXCLAMATIONS !!!! Yes, sure we are!!!!

And why? Answer apparently 2-fold: one is that Brits can't stop talking about SK's wonderful weather cuz their own weather is so awful. (No, I am not making this up.) Other reason is that all waegooks coming to the Land of the Morning Yellow Dust Storms are just so entranced by Korea's fine weather (and 4 SEASONS!!!!! There just aren't enuf exclamation points to do it justice, eh?) that we JUST CAN'T STOP OURSELVES FROM INCESSANTLY BABBLING.... "What a beautiful day!!" and the like.

Didn't make that one up either. (Wonder if it explains why Koreans are so in love with exclamations - has anyone on this board ever gotten an email from a Korean that didn't have AT LEAST six exclamation points in it? Starting with Hello!!)

Bet I made you laugh - a little, anyway!
