Why do I keep seeing so many houses with orange and blue rooftops? I see a couple of other colours once in awhile....but I am curious to see if anyone knows why these two colours are so common? Surely, it can't be because they look nice!

they had this in the "Ask a Korean Dude" section of that "Seoul" magazine a few months ago. It's something to do with that Park Chee Heung character wanting to put modern roofs on the buildings and yada yada yada.

Hope this helps

Well, now that you mention rooftops, why are all water tanks on roofs yellow?

The roof of Kyongbukgung (and Cheong Wa Dae) is blue because only the Chinese were allowed to have Imperial Yellow. True.

Where are you? I love those colored rooftops. Where I'm at in Seoul.. I never see them. Can't wait to take a trip into the mountains to see those again soon.
