It's about time someone got sense. Media doesn't last forever. You should be able to make a back up. Even if media has shelf life, people grow up, have children, and children like to throw DVDs into microwaves. There are lots of movies that will come out on DVD today but there's no guarantee you'll be able to buy them in 10 years time.
Any law or technology that tries to circumvent this ability is basically an insult to all consumers. And it takes an act of congress to ram it down a consumer's throat. |
