The aisle head position is the spot in any grocery store you want your product displayed. People make the assumption anything placed there is on sale and will buy in bulk. Korea's innovation is they also station a leggy woman in a short plastic skirt and white boots to help, errr, sell whatever product is positioned there.

The internal conflict is great. The feminist side of me goes "Oh god, this is terrible." The male side of me goes "Whoa! Hot legs!"

Ultimately, I find these women a disincentive to buy. It goes like this.

I just want to buy cream rinse. Cream rinse and shampoo are being promoted by some leggy lovely. Her job isn't to just stand there. She has to get all up in your face, scream like the product is about to induce orgasm in her, and generally make the existence of her long, bare legs known to you, impairing your ability to compare prices because thoughts about what kind of panties are under her skirt crowd everything else out of your mind.

I remember again I just want to buy cream rinse. If my Snuggle Binks was bounding around me in this attire well, I'd be happy. But my Snuggle Binks likes me. She might even love me. I'm allowed to like her back and touch parts of her. I can even communicate with my Snuggle Binks in English. This haircare model is paid to bound about me, screaming and thrusting. Clearly to all involved, there is no way I can understand her sales pitch. I'd feel better if I could engage her in some conversation about the product's merits, valving my own sense of embarrassment. I'd be happy if she ignored me entirely, letting me take a discreet look at her legs out of the corner of my eye before I remind myself I have, currently, my own piece of heaven a 39 minute subway ride away, once on Saturday and once Wednesday lunch time. I'm sure the haircare model would much rather ignore me too but there is no doubt some unseen tyrannical boss who would just love to get up in her business if she failed to thrust about any prospective customer.

So my simple desire to quietly buy a bottle of cream rinse is turned into a lot of noise, embarrassment, and red faced fluster and frustration on my part.

God.

My Snuggle Binks says they're called "͸" (literally "nah-reh-ee-tuh model" or "narrator model" if you de konglish-ify it.)

So you understand my suffering I've taken the trouble to google on this topic and this is what I've come up with.

This first link reminds me how those "Narrator Models" at the World of Warcraft booth in Coex mall dress. These women in tight black dresses wander about. They lack a riding crop to complete the look:
