In an effort to make proceedings at the National Assembly more controlled and perhaps more courteous, the Ethics Committee of the legislature passed a resolution that would ban lawmakers from using foul language, attacking one another physically and from making false accusations during legislative sessions. The resolution is not legally binding, but the committee said it will investigate and punish lawmakers who violate it.

In a related development, the full Assembly approved an amendment yesterday to the civil servants ethics law. The action requires senior public officials, including lawmakers and their families, to sell their stock holdings or put them into blind trusts managed by trust and asset management companies.

Much like any developed nation, the biggest babies here are the ones in control. Korean politics is an embarrassment. I have been tryng to find that New Zealand shirt advertisement featuring a brawl in the Korean parliament - "If our shirts can handle this... they can handle anything you can throw at them" or something like that.

On a related note, the only more interesting than Korean political fighting is the WWE-inspired fighting in the Taiwan parliament.

I would love to watch that stuff on television. Perhaps PPV would do the trick. In the Ultimate Fighting Championships they have had a long time fight ref named Big John McCarthy. He looks at one fighter and says, "Are you ready!!" He looks at the other fighter and says even louder, "Are you ready!!" Then he says "Lets get it on" as he claps his hands together. The two fighters then touch thier fists against the other and the war is on inside the Octagon. I think it would be cool to see one of those guys perform a rear naked choke, or an armbar..... So get Big John and lets get it on!!!!
