A co-worker's wife is having a baby. He asked for an English name that also works in Korean.... sounds good both ways.
Anyone know any good ones?
I already told him to avoid, "Bum Suk." |

Harry or Haylie (spelling can vary). I love the name Haylie for girls. |

A friend's name is June or Joo-eun in Korean. Very religious Korean name though. Soo-Jee is one, or Suzy in English.
Another friend named their son Issac in English or Ee-sak ̻ in Korean. I just looked at the authors names on my husband's Korean books and one of them is called Jae-yeong (?) and I guess the English could be Jerone?
My brother in law is called Tae-ho ȣ in Korean, so his English/French (married to a French) name is Theo, which is kinda cute.
If I think of anymore I will tell you. |

Lots of possibilities for girls names: Gina, Julie, etc, not so many for boys though I think. |

A friend almost called her baby ʸ (phillip) the fortune teller recommended against it in the end, but I think that mumbo-jumbo changes all the time, so it might be lucky now the moon is in Gemini (or whatever). |

Anna, Hannah, Susannah all occur in Korean.
Theres already tons of expat Koreans named Suzie since is such a common girls name syllable.
Eugene () is a girl's name in Korean.
Yeh, boys names are harder to come up with. I do teach a boy named Sue! -- one of those uncommon one-syllable names. Another like that I taught was named Gun () & he did in fact move to the States. I'll assume he changed it, or heads an LA streetgang now.
Maybe they'll just have to settle for a name easy to pronounce in both languages, like Larry or Earl ..

Why not try Lee, it can be either a girl or a boy's name. |

Do they know if it's a guy or girl...?
Sue, Sara, Mina all could go either way. Like someone else said it's harder for boy names. |
