I have been getting my PC games from EB games.com for the past few years. Usually I have no difficulties. I pay the large shipping cost and they send the game my way.
Now I have an order on hold because they "have had a surge in overseas orders" and they want me to confirm my identity by sending them an e-mail from a "paid account". That is to say hotmail or yahoo are not good enough, it must be from a work, uni, paid e-mail account.

"it must be from a work, uni, paid e-mail account."
Is it some kind of scam or phishing?
What is Phishing and Pharming?
Phishing attacks use both social engineering and technical subterfuge to steal consumers' personal identity data and financial account credentials. Social-engineering schemes use 'spoofed' e-mails to lead consumers to counterfeit websites designed to trick recipients into divulging financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames, passwords and social security numbers. Hijacking brand names of banks, e-retailers and credit card companies, phishers often convince recipients to respond. Technical subterfuge schemes plant crimeware onto PCs to steal credentials directly, often using Trojan keylogger spyware. Pharming crimeware misdirects users to fraudulent sites or proxy servers, typically through DNS hijacking or poisoning.

While i appretiate the post RR, I don't think that is what EB is up to.
I have a feeling they're having copy-right problems over here as well as distribution tiffs.
I think they are trying to ensure i am who I say I am.
That being said, it is annoying. |

NEVER. NEVER reply to emails requesting any personal information over the internet. I lost 1500 dollars last month through amazon for that same reason.
PLEASE contacy EBgames directly and do NOT use the email address that linked you the message. Fraud is never covered in any companies guarantees... |
