Strange how, at a remove of two years, a person can come to miss certain aspects to waeguk life in Hangukistan. What I wouldn't do for a decent, affordable kimchi jjigae, or even a bottle of Cham ... |

Yeah, I have adapted all of my cooking to include Korean stuff- doenjang, gochujang, many kids of tubu, gimchi (of course), kim, and a long list of things that will be difficult to find if I end up in my country of choice, Mexico.
Of course, I really miss real Mexican Mexican food- not the Americanized and then Koreanized stuff (at least two itterations away from the real thing).
I think food is one of the most significant and specific things about a culture, and the most nostalgic when you are away from it.
Right now I would give a lot for some real conch fritters, arroz con pollo or moros y cristianos from my home city of Miami.
Interesting to think that someday I will be yearning for doenjang jjigae. |

Yes, Mr. Cat, but when you get back to Korea you will soon be missing all the things from back home. The grass always appear greener but it's all a mirage. Enjoy like back in Miguk and move forward. |
