I spoke with my recruiter today regarding the 2 weeks vacation per my contract. I had read a few things about vacation timing and wanted some clarification. What I was told, is that the two weeks vacation are seperated and one is during the Summer and one is Winter the school closes down. He said this is standard all over Korea and all of the Hagwons close down for the same period of time. Iniitally, I thought I would take 2 weeks in a row during the Winter time and go to Thailand, but it looks like I can only for one week and it's during the time when all the schools are closed.
Can someone please verify that the information I am being given by my recruiter is in fact true and standard for hagwons in Korea.
Thanks for taking the time to reply! |

I also have 10 days leave in my contract - one week in winter and one week in summer when the hogwan closes.
I can understand why they do it like this... if you took off for 2 straight weeks and they're unable to cover your hours... and the parents are forking over big bucks per month to have their child taught by a foreign teacher... well they'd be pretty pissed off and probably looking for another hogwan.
So to answer your question, yeah, I think it's pretty standard. |
