WOW!
That's pretty good coin.
TEFL'ing is okay but doesn't even come close.
When I lived in Tokyo, I'd see foreigners near Hiroo and Rappongi driving Porches and Ferraris - that's because they were making Y2,000,000 a month.
I dated J-girls who had gone out with some of these MBA exec. types and they were living in houses that cost Y400,000 per month in rent - of course paid by the company.
I met a young Canadian Lawyer in Tokyo at the gym and he said he was starting out at Y700,000 per month with housing - I'm guessing his housing was also pretty nice.
These foreign dudes in Lotus Land are living Bling, Bling lifestyles - I'd read once in a while where these guys would O.D. on Coke or something.
Too much coin to know what to do with. |

You can make more than that here teachin in you find the right job. And remember this is for the average salaried workers who're definately, on average older than us and work a hell of a lot more hours.
I'm damn happy with what I've got ATM. |

It never is. "Look the average salary at these companies that hires a lot of engineers and MBAs is really high compared to what a 23-year-old foreigner with no experience can get at a hagwon!" Our job should be compared with what the Korean working next to us at a hagwon is getting. No Korean gets 2 million won a month for part time hours. End of story.
For all RR's biatching about how messed up Korea is, he never gets to the core: he works at a university as an English instructor. He has a good salary and status he'd never have back in his home town of Meat Cove, Nova Scotia. If Korea had its act together, I doubt RR would have his job. |

RR has a job because his university/hogwon makes good money off him, which is the case w/ just about every foreign instructor in Korea. He doesn't need to feel so indebted to Korea that he can't have a discussion about working conditions and Korean laws.
Are his posts one sided? Sure, But so is what most recruiters , hogwon directors and head teachers have to say.
Would salaries be higher if Korean employment laws were different is a valid question. |
